HOLIDAY UP DO

I know I haven't posted anything for a while so I decided to do a post for the holidays. There are lots of fun party's to attend this time of year so I thought I would teach a quick and easy up do. This really should be pretty easy don't worry about getting it perfect. Be creative and add your own personal touch!
The outcome may look completely different depending on the length and thickness of your hair.

Tools: Comb, hairspray, bobby pins and some gloss serum or styling creme would be helpful if you have some.

First you want to start off by parting the hair. Make it a pretty dramatic diagonal part on on side of your hair.
Then what you want to do is backcomb the heck out of it. Start at the crown area and continue around the top of the head and then down your head so that the whole thing is BIG.

This is what it should like like after backcombing. If you need tips on backcombing check the post on round brushing and styling your hair and it should help.
After back combing take your comb and smooth out the very top of the hair so that it looks nice and neat.
This is what it should look like at this point.
Then you will want to take the entire front section of your hair (your bangs) and clip or bobby pin them away and we will get to those later.

Then bring up your first section. You want to pull up the hair from the crown of your head and part of the sides. Pull it back like your going to put it in a loose ponytail and comb it out so that it is smooth.
Then you will take that section and start to twist it, then turn the ends underneath the twist almost like you are going to make a knot.
get a bobby pin and stick it into the hair making sure it stays in place. Sometime two bobby pins are needed.
Then bring the another section of hair right underneath the one you just twisted up. smooth it out with a comb just like before. It helps to use the styling creme to smooth all the hairs back.
Once again, start to twist and turn the hair under itself.
Place the twisted knot under the other knot and a little to the right. Fasten with bobby pins.
continue to add more knots in this same way until all your hair is up. I usually like to alternate were I put the knots, first one on the right then one on the left, but be creative and do whatever you want!

When all the hair is up then take the front section of hair and smooth it back and secure it with a bobby pin.

I usually try to hide the bobby pin with the hair in the back.

Hopefully my directions made sense. let me know if you have any questions.

You can also do this up do with shorter hair you just might not be able to make the knot. Just twist it up and secure it the twist with a bobby pin. Then spike out the hairs a little bit with styling creme.

You can also try just doing it half up. leaving some of your hair down and curling it might be cute. If you want to do this just do two or three of the twisty knots and style the rest of your hair however you want. Good luck and happy holidays!!

Plus I am in serious need of learning what shampoos to use...plus my hair is a disaster after having two kids and it all falling out and regrowing new special weird hair! I will have to discuss a good time...maybe this summer when Mist gets settled into a house!
